At only 19 years of age, South London based musician Dave (aka Santan Dave) has already made quite a name for himself. The young rapper left a lasting mark on the UK urban scene last September with the independent release of his debut ‘Six Paths’ EP. Created alongside production partner 169 & Grammy Award winning producer Fraser T Smith (Adele, Kano, Stormzy), the six track EP perfectly showcases the intelligent wordplay and social commentary Dave has become synonymous for.
Since then, the superstar in the making has spent 2017 consolidating his reputation as one of the most exciting British talents around. In the space of twelve short months Dave has displayed his impressive versatility across a number eclectic tracks (‘100Ms’, ‘Tequila’, ‘Revenge’ & the J Hus featuring ‘Samantha’), toured North America with AJ Tracey, delivered two hotly anticipated sets at SXSW, made appearances on releases for the likes of Drake & Giggs, wrapped up his sold out debut UK tour, covered Crack Magazine and showcased his undeniable talents on his debut television appearance at BBC’s ‘Later… with Jools Holland’, not to mention a slew of festival appearances at Glastonbury, Wireless, Melt, Latitude and Reading to name a few.
Dave is now preparing to release the follow up to ‘Six Paths’ with his ‘Game Over’ EP slated for release in November. Engrossing lead single ‘Question Time’ finds Dave ferociously addressing some of the key social issues facing his generation, from underfunding for the NHS to the looming disparity threatened by Brexit. The impactful visuals have racked up nearly a million views in under a couple of weeks proving once again that there is a rabid audience hungry for Dave’s inimitable voice. The palpable sense of excitement around the young rapper also saw his recently announced nationwide tour sell out in a matter of hours, not to mention two nights at the legendary KOKO selling out in under two minutes.
With Noisey anointing him ‘the urban scene’s heir apparent’, the stage is now set for Dave to cement his position as THE British artist to watch in 2018.
