Spanish singer and songwriter Alvaro Soler first came to prominence in 2015 with his platinum single "El Mismo Sol," released in a solo edition as well as a separate version with a feature by Jennifer Lopez. Born in Barcelona, Soler initially played in a pop group called Urban Lights with his brother and a few friends. The band appeared on the game show ¡Tú Sí Que Vales!, and placed in the final eight contestants, but Soler later decided to leave.
After a move to Berlin, his 2015 single, "El Mismo Sol," became a surprise hit in Italy and Switzerland; a version featuring additional vocals in Spanish and English by Jennifer Lopez helped it chart in the U.S. and U.K. as well. In 2016, Soler released his debut album, Eterno Agosto, a number one hit in Italy and Switzerland. One of the album's singles, "Sofia," topped the charts in four European countries. Returning in March 2018, Soler scored another European hit with "La Cintura," the first single from his second album, Mar de Colores, which was released later that year. ~ Rovi Staff
